The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is planning to hold a cricket lecture in memory of late ICC and BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya during the upcoming Indian home season.
Dalmiya passed away last September as sitting BCCI president after a brief illness.
While the CAB has not yet zeroed in on any date but it could be held either during the second Test match against New Zealand or during the ODI match against England later in the season.
"The BCCI has its own MAK Pataudi Memorial Lecture. Since Mr Dalmiya was the longest serving CAB president as well a big name in Indian cricket administration, we feel that a cricketing lecture in his memory would be a fitting tribute by one and all," a senior CAB official told PTI today.
However, with the Lodha Committee Recommendations looming large on every state association, CAB wants to get the timing right.
"Every senior BCCI official currently is preoccupied with Lodha reforms. Although the organising a cricket lecture has got nothing to do with it but we would want a full attendance from who's who in BCCI," said the official.
Asked if it's possible during the New Zealand series when Eden Gardens will host the second Test, the official said: "We would want a date where ICC chairman Shashank Manohar, BCCI president Anurag Thakur and all the BCCI officials are present. We also need a former great either from India or other top cricketing nation to deliver the inaugural lecture. In case, we can't organise it during New Zealand series, we would like to have it during the England series.
