In a letter sent to the prime minister today, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) suggested special task force may be constituted, chaired by the Lt Governor of Delhi, to study the multiple issues and their solution thereof within a time-bound period.
The task force, it said, may comprise senior officials of the Ministry of Urban Development and Delhi Government, MCD, DDA and other concerned agencies and trade representatives.
In its letter, CAIT alleged that "traders of Delhi are being harassed and victimised on account of sealing" under the guise of the Supreme Court order by sidelining the fundamental provisions of Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, and the monitoring committee is working in a dictatorial manner.
"The Monitoring Committee was set up by the Supreme Court to look into Commercial Establishments in residential premises but the said Monitoring Committee is exceeding its jurisdiction and passing orders of sealing at anywhere and everywhere in Delhi," CAIT said.
The sealing of business establishments in Delhi will certainly wreck the economy of national capital and will disturb the centuries old distributive character of trade in Delhi, CAIT said.
