In a release here, Campco said it was eyeing the rural market as their new brand would not melt atroom temperature unlike other chocolates.
Campco president S R Satishchandra said that the 'DarkTan' chocolate was from a long line of locally researched anddeveloped chocolate product.
He expressed the hope that thecooperative firm's new product would attract rural customers.
P Chowdappa, director, Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kasaragod, said the Dark Tan chocolates would not melt easily at room temperature as it wasmade using natural cocoa powder and vegetable fat.
The new chocolate is the25th variety of chocolate released by the co-operative.
The total production by Campco's factory at near here was 14,359 tonnes during the last financial year, the releasesaid.
