Assistant Superintendent of Police Ashish Srivastava told PTI that the police control room received information that some robbers had stolen a car at gun point from one Ramesh Bhati from near Aradhana cinema around 11 pm yesterday.
Police teams immediately launched a chase. Finding themselves cornered, the robbers opened fire to which the police relatiated.
One of the robbers and a constable were injured in the encounter.
The injured accused Raheem of Pasonda village was arrested and taken to hospital while his accomplice managed to escape, police said, adding that a hunt has been launched to nab him.
