Carcasses of four peahens and two
peacocks were found near here today.
Forest officials said an autopsy would reveal how the birds died as the carcasses were found near a water source at Akkaraipalayam village.
Officials are not sure whether the birds were killed by someone by administering poison in grains or if they consumed some poisonous grass or other eatables.
The officials said the area is noted for peacock population and hundreds of the birds visit the area to feed on grains, fruits and other eatables from farm lands.
