In more trouble for self-styled 'godman' Asaram, a case has been filed against him on the direction of the Supreme Court for producing fabricated documents in support of his interim bail application.
Taking serious not of the "fake" report, a division bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India J S Khehar and Justice N V Ramanna on January 30 slapped a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on him.
It also directed the police to file a fresh case against him for misleading the court through fabricated documents to get bail.
The SHO of Ratanada police station, Ramesh Sharma, today said, "A case against Asaram and others on the directions of the Supreme Court has been field for filing fake documents in the court".
Asaram, who was been in jail here since August 2013 for allegedly sexually exploiting a teenage girl in his 'gurukul', had submitted a forged report said to have been issued by the jail superintendent stating his health condition required urgent medical attention.
The Supreme Court on January 30 denied bail to Asaram, whose similar pleas have been rejected several times by the courts.
