"Our mentor Vijai Sardesai from day one (of the announcement on implementing the concept) has been saying that cashless would make BJP vote-less and probably they have realised this now," Goa Forward spokesperson Durgadas Kamat said.
Goa Forward, a regional party, was launched early this year.
"BJP first inflicts injury and then suggests a cure. Goans are smart enough to know this and they would surely make BJP vote-less in the upcoming Assembly polls," he said.
In a sudden twist, BJP today told its Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar not to announce any deadline for the state to go cashless, apprehending doing so will antagonise the business community just months ahead of the Assembly elections, likely to be held in the first quarter of 2017.
A group of party leaders met Parsekar and requested him not to put any deadline to achieve the goal of cashless society.
