Castor seed prices rose Rs 59 to Rs 4,201 per quintal in futures trade as investors raised bets on firm physical markets sentiments.
Market players said speculators went for long positions on the back of strong spot markets cues, where castor seed remained in keen demand due to paucity of stocks amid buying by soap, paint and lubricant industries, which featured up trend in castor seed futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed delivery for the immediate contract March rose further by Rs 59 or 1.42 per cent to Rs 4,201 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,060 lots.
The delivery for the most traded second contract April edged up by Rs 4, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 4,248 per quintal, in a business turnover in 58,250 open lots.
