The preliminary enquiry has been initiated against 13 people including readers, assistant professors, professors, who were recruited in NDA's various academic departments over the last few years, CBI officials said.
"There are two eligibility criteria-- experience and academic performance indicator scores -- on whose basis, the recruitment takes place in NDA.
"We have initiated a PE on the basis of allegations that the experience and performance indicator score, submitted at the time of recruitment process by these faculty members were wrong and exaggerated and thus recruitment was wrong," said a senior CBI officer.
"PE is just to check whether the allegations are true," he said.
When contacted, NDA officials said so far the CBI has not approached NDA.
