CBI lodges FIR against ex-Director Doordarshan Kendra Shimla

CBI has registered a case against a former Director of Doordarshan Kendra, Shimla and two others in connection with alleged fraud in the telecast of Hindi films.
CBI sources said Om Dutt Sharma, the then Director, DDK Shimla (presently Deputy Director DDK Jalandhar), Surjeet Singh of Expert Pictures, Jalandhar and Pushpinder Kaur of Amba Shree Pictures Limited have been named in the case registered under relevant provisions of the IPC, including criminal conspiracy and cheating besides sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
"It was alleged that then Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Shimla entered into a criminal conspiracy with distributors of said private companies of Jalandhar and allowed permission for telecast of Hindi Films from DDK, Shimla on the basis of false information/fake documents submitted by the said distributors and as such, cheated Doordarshan," a CBI spokesperson said.
She said it was also alleged that during the period 2007-2012, payment of Rs 50 lakh (approx) was made to the private companies for telecasting Hindi feature films, tele films and Hindi film songs without following the guidelines based on fake and incomplete documents.
"Searches were conducted at six places in Jalandhar (Punjab) and two places in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) at the official and residential premises of accused persons.
Certain documents relating to property, insurance policies, 15 Bank Accounts (approx) of family members and two locker keys were recovered from the residence of public servant," the spokesperson added.
