The Appointments Committee of the cabinet has approved extension of central deputation tenure of Sinha, Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), for a period of six months beyond his approved five year central deputation, from October 3, 2017 to April 2, 2018, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
Sinha is a 1996 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre.
The CBI is probing alleged corruption in recruitment of various government posts in Madhya Pradesh by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) or 'Vyapam'.
Bhopal-based MPPEB has been recently rechristened as the Professional Examination Board.
