CBI has a registered a case against two officials of United India Insurance company for allegedly issuing insurance notes for 16 vehicles which had met accident.
CBI Spokesperson Devpreet Singh said here that by issuing insurance notes to such vehicles the officials allegedly caused a loss of Rs 3.25 crore during 2009-14.
She said the agency has registered a case of alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against officials of the United Indian Insurance in Latur (Maharashtra), eight owners of vehicles and unknown others.
"The accused had fraudulently issued alleged insurance cover notes against 16 vehicles after the said vehicles had actually met with accidents and thereby defrauded the insurance company on the basis of fake and forged documents," she said.
The Spokesperson said searches have been conducted at the office and residential premises of accused persons at 13 places in the districts of Latur, Jalgaon, Akola, Parbhani, Osmanabad and Pune (Maharashtra) which led to recovery of documents.
