CCI Snooker: Nishant Dossa cruises into second round

Nishant Dossa of the Cricket Club of India today defeated Sanjeev Shah of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana convincingly by a 3-1 margin in a best-of-five frame first round match of the Rs 12.25 lakh prize-money CCI All India Open Snooker Championship 2018 being played here.
Nishant, who was potting consistently, and exhibited some clever, safety play, managed to sideline his rival Sanjeev, and coast to a 73-25, 38-61, 71-49, 60-40 victory. He will meet Cherag Ramakrishnan in the next round on Tuesday, a media release said here.
Meanwhile, talented youngster Sumehr Mago of Khar Gymkhana cruised to an easy 3-0 win against the experienced Anurag Bagri of Elphinstone Cricket Club in another first round tie. Sumehr (13) showed fluency with his potting, and with good selection of shots, charged to a fluent 71-35, 50-27, 56-32 victory.
Manan Shah of Malabar Hill Club too enjoyed a good run as he overcame Pratik Thakkar of Thane in three straight frames to advance to the second round.
Telanganas BL Dheeraj had a good roll of the balls and defeated S.R. Vaid of Cricket Club of India in three quick frames.
