CEC and ECs to travel to poll-bound Assam next week

The full bench of the Election Commission (EC) is expected to travel to Assam next week to review preparations for the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state.
Officials said a full EC team led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and Election Commissioners A K Joti and O P Rawat is expected to be in Guwahati on March 21-22 where they are expected to hold meetings with top officials of the state election machinery and Representatives of various political parties.
The EC will also take stock of the electoral rolls and measures deployed for security of the booths and facilities to be provided to the voters during the two-day visit.

The 126-member Assam assembly will have a two phase polling on April 4 and 11 while the counting of votes will take place on May 19 along with four other states which also go to polls in the same cycle.
