Centre assures Odisha of adequate allocation of fertilisers

The Centre has assured the Odisha government of providing 10.75 lakh tonnes of fertilisers during the kharif season, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said today.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today called on Singh to discuss the issues related to the agriculture sector development in the state.
"During the meeting, Singh assured Patnaik that Centre will provide 10.75 lakh tonnes of fertiliser as demanded by the state; and in this regard Singh has already requested to the Fertiliser Ministry," the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement today.
The supply plan of fertilisers to various states is made by the Fertiliser Ministry on the basis of recommendations made by the Agriculture Ministry.

Singh also informed the Chief Minister that the Centre has decided to include Odisha under National Food Security Mission to promote cultivation of sugarcane in the states and the state will get financial assistance under the sugarcane development programme.
The Agriculture Minister also assured Patnaik for promotion of horticulture produce in Odisha, adding that the Centre will help state in developing cold storage facilities in six districts.
"Very soon, a high-level team of officials will visit Odisha to discuss issues related to the development of agriculture in the state," Singh added.
After meeting, Patnaik expressed satisfaction and added that the minister was optimistic about the state's demands, the statement added.
