Actor David Schwimmer says his conversation with reality TV star Kris Jenner changed his view about her former husband Robert Kardashian, who he is playing on the the upcoming show "The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story".
The 10-episode series, set to premiere on February 8, tells the real life story of how the late lawyer Robert's client professional football player OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder.
Schwimmer, 49, said he had little clue about Robert and of what he knew about him made the actor feel the lawyer was messy and conflicted.
"I knew nothing about him, and what appealed to me about it was the idea of the mystery to me, how does a man choose to stand by a good friend, when the world believes or many people believe him guilty of these terrible crimes? Also, given the fact that he was dear friends with Nicole (Brown), it was very complicated and very messy, and I think he was very conflicted."
Brown was Simpson's ex wife. Simpson was tried on two counts of murder after the deaths of Simpson, and his waiter Ronald Lyle Goldman, in June 1994.
Schwimmer said he was only when he spoke to Jenner he realised Robert was a man of great faith.
"I spoke to Kris Jenner for a couple of hours, and when I realised rather that he was a man of great faith, he was a very religious man, that, for me, was one of the keys to understanding how he could make this decision to stand by his friend and to stick it out even when there might have been great uncertainty at times or doubt in his own heart.
"I think part of it was this kind of idea that it's not for him to judge. It's just for him to love and stand by his friend. So, I think it played a great part in his personal choice.
