CID officials today questioned BJP MP Sriramulu's gunman for the second consecutive day today in connection with the alleged suicide of a driver of a senior state government officer in a case relating to alleged laundering of money for mining baron Janardhan Reddy.
Chennabasappa Hosamane (Sriramulu's gunman) was summoned for the second consecutive day in connection with the suicide of K C Ramesh at Maddur in Mandya district on December six, a senior CID official told PTI here.
The official said the CID summoned Hosamane after it traced the calls made by him to Bheema Nayak, Special Land Acquisition Officer (Bengaluru), alleged to be close to Reddy.
Ramesh had allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at a lodge on December 6, leaving a death note in which he has listed out alleged illegalities committed by Nayak and held him and his personal driver Mohammad responsible for his death.
Ramesh had also alleged that there was a threat to his life as he was in the know of the illegalities allegedly committed by the officer and how he got money converted into white for the opulent wedding of Reddy's daughter recently.
The note claimed that Reddy had got Rs 100 crore converted into white money for his daughter's marriage with the help of Nayak.
Bheema Nayak and Mohammad have been arrested on December 11.
The note also claimed that days before the wedding of Reddy's daughter, Nayak had met Reddy and Sreeramulu and discussed the deal regarding money conversion.
Sriramulu had earlier dismissed the charge.
Mandya Police, which had registered a case under section 306 of the IPC (abetment of suicide) against Nayak, had formed three teams to look into the suicide of Ramesh.
