An airline employee, working at the Delhi airport, has been apprehended by the CISF for allegedly concealing a passenger's lost mobile phone and not depositing it to the authorities, the force said today.
A CISF spokesperson said the authorities of the force at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport recently received a complaint from the family of the passenger, who had left for Amsterdam on December 14, that he had lost his phone in the international terminal area.
The CCTV footage of that day was checked and it was seen that passenger Amrik Singh's phone was picked up by another person and handed over to a ground-handling staffer of an airline operating at the IGI Airport, he said.
The staffer, J Singh, did not deposit the phone and kept it with himself for all these days, the spokesperson said.
The airport employee was called by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) authorities and during interrogation he allegedly accepted that he hid the phone and kept it for his own use, he said.
The man was handed over to the Delhi Police with a complaint of theft against him, he said, adding that the phone will be restored to the passenger after legal proceedings.
