Civic body slams notice on UP minister for demolition of shops
Press Trust of India Gonda (UP) Almost four months after he was charged with abducting Gonda CMO, UP minister Vinod Kumar Singh is in the midst of a fresh row as the civic body has send him a notice in connection with demolition of two shops allotted to him.
Minister of secondary education in Uttar Pradesh, Vinod Kumar Singh alias Pandit Singh, was served with the notice for allegedly demolishing two shops allotted to him in Raj Narain market here.
Chairman of Nagar Palika Parishad Nirmal Srivastava said,"In the notice it has been said that if Singh does not reconstructs the shops within a month then legal action would be taken against him."
Srivastava said that two shops in Raj Narain market were allotted to the minister on January 17, 2005.
He said that as per the agreement between the local body and Singh, he could neither demolish the shops nor can rent it to third party, therefore notice has been issued.
The minister had constructed a shopping complex, and as the two shops were blocking the way he demolished and developed entrance and parking on the vacant area, Srivastava said.
"On the complaint of locals an inquiry was conducted and the incident was found to be true," the chairman said.
Meanwhile, Singh said that he has not done anything wrong and he was "still paying the rent of the two shops".
The minister alleged that the chairman was "hatching a conspiracy to malign his image".
In October last year, Singh, who was minister of state for revenue, was accused of abducting chief medical officer of the district after which he had to resign.
In ministerial expansion in February this year he was re-inducted as minister of state for secondary education.
