CM asks for organising Skill Melas in all Assam districts

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today asked the Industries and Commerce Department to organise Investment and Skill Melas in all the districts of the state to sustain the initiatives taken during the recent 'Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit' here.

Reviewing the functioning of of the Department here, Sonowal discussed about various initiatives taken by the department to sustain the economic momentum created by the investors summit, an official release said.

The chief minister also directed the department to arrange for showing films on Namami Brahmaputra and Namami Barak festivals along with Advantage Assam in schools and colleges for motivating the young generation.

He was informed that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has given the go ahead on the proposed gas grid connectivity from Barauni to Guwahati which would help rapid industrial development of the state, the release said.

The chief minister stressed upon the need to make small tea growers of the state aware about harmful effects of rampant pesticide usage which has reduced fertility of their lands.

He also directed the Department to conduct training programme for the small tea growers in batches every month to motivate them to adopt organic farming practices.

Sonowal also directed the department to take action for setting up industrial estates in all 33 districts of Assam which would make the industrial growth of the state visible to the people.
