The BJP today held Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma responsible for making the state the worst performing in the Northeast.
The party also said that it will charge sheet the Congress-led government in the state to expose its "wrong doings".
"We will soon come out with a charge sheet against the Mukul Sangma-led state government," Assam Finance minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters after the state executive committee meeting of the party here.
"The charge sheet will reflect the complete mismanagement of governance, corruptions, underdevelopment and many personal complicity of the Congress leadership in Meghalaya," he said.
Sarma said the BJP will then take the charge sheet to the doorsteps of the people and inform them about the failures of Congress to implement its promises and various other schemes.
Taking a dig at the delay in setting up a medical college in Tura, promised since 2011, he said "By now Assam has got ten medical colleges."
Sharma said the country's move to accommodate refugees should not be at the cost of the Northeast region.
"If there is a national policy to allow people to come (and settle) in India, it may not be at the cost of the Northeast region," Sarma told reporters here.
"Let them come to India but let them settle down outside the Northeast. That is our (BJP) position," he said.
Clearing apprehensions over the imposition of Hindi in the Northeast states, Sarma said, "In Assam we are making Assamese mandatory in schools. In Meghalaya, Khasi Garo and Jaintia should be made mandatory in government schools."
"We are going to maintain the diversity in the Northeast and imposition of Hindi language will not be there as we want to reduce regional disparity and promote religious tolerance," he said.
