Coast Guard rescues seven fishermen

Seven Indian fishermen on board a drifting wooden boat were today rescued by the Indian Coast Guard off the Tuticorin coast.
Coast Guard ship ICGS Naikidevi located the boat drifting following engine failure, some 24 nautical miles off Manappad near Tiruchendur around 4.30 pm, an official release said.
The rescued fishermen, now on board the ship and the disabled boat were likely to reach Tuticorin tomorrow, it said.
The Fisheries department officials had alerted the Coast Guard Station in Tuticorin about the seven fishermen on board a 'vallam' (wooden boat).
