Two motorcycle-borne men waylaid Monu while he was going to Modi Nagar on his bike and tried to snatch his cash bag, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said.
On resistance, the men opened fire at Monu and the bullet hit his stomach. The bike-borne men allegedly fled with the bag having Rs 80,000, according to the FIR.
Monu was rushed to a nearby private hospital from where he was further referred to Meerut Medical college.
