The Chief Secretary, who was speaking at the 140th meeting of State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) organised here today, said that while there had been some temporary problems following demonetisation, the move has resulted in improvement in liquidity position of banks for funding credit schemes.
"Demonetisation will have a positive impact as more and more transactions are being routed through banking channel," he added.
Highlighting the steps taken by the state government for doubling the income of farmers by 2022, Dhesi said that these included preparation of soil health cards, diversification towards horticultural crops and grading, packing and marketing of the produce of the farmers through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
He also urged the bankers and Lead District Managers (LDMs) to implement the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (Credit Linked Subsidy scheme) and Prime Minister Employment Generation Programe (PMEGP) in letter and spirit during the current financial year so that the targets could be met.
He also informed that the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) has been launched by the Centre to ensure timely release of funds to the states for centrally-sponsored schemes.
He said that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for Rabi 2016-17 had been implemented successfully in the state, and urged the banks and LDMs to implement the scheme for loanee and non-loanee farmers in Kharif 2017 with the assistance of district administrations, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department and insurance companies in a transparent and smooth manner.
Total advances by commercial banks and Regional Rural Banks in the State increased by Rs 4,962 crore, from Rs 1,92,145 crore as in March, 2016 to Rs 1,97,107 crore as in March, 2017.
Total deposits of commercial banks and Regional Rural Banks increased by Rs 53,033 crore to Rs 2,96,683 crore as in March, 2017 from Rs 2,43,650 crore as in March 2016, he informed.
