"The call for political change given by Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee two years ago in 2011, today came full circle with the victory in the panchayat elections," Mukherjee said.
The ruling Trinamool Congress swept the three-tier panchayat elections capturing 13 out of the 17 zilla parishads, while the Congress put up a poor show getting just one in Murshidabad. The CPI(M) managed to win in two districts.
"The victory has shown that people are still with us, irrespective of conspiracies hatched by CPI(M) and Congress. The people have given them a fitting reply," he said.
