Computerising land records for better planning: Secretary

While on the one hand, there was scarcity of land for use by the people, on the other hand haphazard development was taking place on available land, Anita Chaudhary, Secretary, Land Resources department of the Union Ministry of Rural Development said.

"This is leading to environmental problems. The only answer to these problems is digitisation and computerisation of land records," she said.

Under these circumstances, modernisation of land records was a must for better and efficient land management, Chaudhary said after inaugurating a two-day National Land Records Modernisation Workshop.
