Conference of Social Welfare Dept. Secretaries of states held

A two-day conference of State Social Welfare Department secretaries and administrators of Union Territories dealing with disability affairs concluded here today.
According to a statement, inaugurating the conference, Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said though the schemes for persons with disability are of the central government, the implementation lies primarily with the states.
Without the states' cooperation, achieving success would not be possible in this matter, he said.
Lov Verma, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, presented an overview of major policy issues concerning persons with disability.
The conference was held on July 2 and 3, the statement added.
