Opposition Congress in Goa today alleged corruption by the Public Works Department in ongoing renovation of the office and residence of newly-appointed Lokayukta B Sudershan Reddy and demanded probe into the issue.
"The renovation contract was awarded by PWD without issuing any tender in order to favour a private contractor," state unit Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamankar alleged in a press conference.
The office of the Lokayukta is located on the premises of the state guest house and the official residence in other part of the city.
Tamankar appealed to the anti-corruption watchdog to take suo motu cognisance of the illegality.
"Lokayukta should take a suo motu cognisance of the matter and start cleansing corruption related to refurbishment of its office and official residence," he added.
However, senior PWD officials did not respond to the phone calls and SMS on the allegations.
