In the wake of incidents like Patiala House court attacks, a Uttar Pradesh Congress leader today made a strong plea to revive the party's "Rapid Action Force" which was constituted by Sonia Gandhi a decade ago.
UPCC general secretary Umesh Pandit, in a letter to the party president, reminded her of such a force set up by her under late Sunil Dutt, named 'Sadhbhavna ke sipahi', as he sought to revive it following the JNU incident.
"The need for the same has risen now as we see BJP, its student wing and their supporters are attacking the fourth estate in broad daylight. Not just that we ought to come on the streets for protection of democratic principles and rights of people of all sections of society," he said.
