Cong leader remanded in police custody for six days

A local court today remanded in six days of police custody Congress leader and CPI-M-Congress alliance candidate from here in the assembly polls, Rafiquddin Mollah, in connection with the murder of a TMC leader.
Mollah is among the 16 people accused by ruling TMC in the murder of Abu Zaher Mollah, a local leader of the party, on March 23 before the polls.
The Congress leader was arrested last night and produced before the sub-divisional court during the day.
The police had demanded his custody for 10 days but the court granted six days of remand.
Mollah told newsmen at the court premises he was arrested "to fulfill political vendetta" and demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing.
