Senior Congress MLA Manas Bhunia today wrote to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeking her intervention to stop post poll violence in his assembly constituency.
"I have written a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister citing 57 incidents of violence in various parts of my constituency Sabang. There are not only incidents of violence but also social boycott of opposition workers.
"I have requested the chief minister to immediately intervene to resolve the situation as such kind of thing cannot go on in democracy," Bhunia said.
Opposition Congress and CPI(M) have accused ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of unleashing post poll violence across the state. The allegation has been denied by TMC.
The two opposition allies had boycotted the swearing-in of the new government under Banerjee on May 27 as a mark of protest against post poll violence.
