"Human lives are precious. Government shall initiate stringent punishment against officials after probe report," state Congress President Ashok Chaudhary said in a statement.
"Officials did not show sensitivity which resulted in stampede...Congress will not be a mute spectator to such incidents," the BPCC chief said.
Congress is supporting Jitan Ram Manjhi government from outside. The party was also a partner in the grand alliance with JD(U) and RJD that swept recent bypoll in the state on 10 seats.
Chaudhary visited families of several stampede victims during the day to be with them and convey condolences of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the statement said.
