Congress-BJP trade charges as C'garh session ends early

The main opposition Congress in Chhattisgarh today accused the ruling BJP of "killing" democracy by winding up the monsoon session of the state assembly in just three days.
The Congress further alleged that the decision to conclude the monsoon session ahead of its schedule is "against" the parliamentary conduct.
A delegation ofCongressleaders also went to Raj Bhawan in the evening and submitted a memorandum to the Governor urging him to convene the session again till its pre-decided schedule citing that the government was yet to reply on several issues in the House.
"It seems that the Raman Singh-led BJP government has lost its faith in the democratic system. This un-parliamentary decision has exposed the character, attitude and face of the ruling BJP before people," state Congress chief and legislator Bhupesh Baghel told mediapersons.

The monsoon session of the state assembly, which started on August 1, adjourned sine die on Thursday, eight days ahead of the stipulated date of August 11.
Concluding the session in just three days much ahead of the schedule is the murder of democracy and against the parliamentary conduct, said Congress.

The day will be remembered as a 'black day' in the history of Chhattisgarh, Baghel said.
The state government is avoiding giving reply over increasing farmers' suicide, charges of corruption against agriculture minister and chief minister, he alleged.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP has slammed the Congress dubbing it's allegation as a political stunt.

"In the last two days, Congress disrupted the Question Hour in the House and now it is saying that they were not given enough time to raise issues. Their allegations and act of handing over memorandum to Governor is nothing but just a political stunt," senior BJP MLA Shivratan Sharma said.
The Work Advisory Committee of the assembly had decided the schedule for the 'official business' of House which was approved by all the members.
Instead of taking part in the proceedings listed as per the Work Advisory Committee, Congress indulged in slogan shouting in the House.
If they would have taken part in the discussion, the session would not have concluded ahead of the schedule, he said.

"If anyone is responsible for the early sine die of the session than it is Congress itself," Sharma added.
