The protests in the capital city were led by Bhopal district Congress chief P C Sharma where the party workers raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sharma told PTI that Narendra Modi had promised achhe din (better days) to people during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls.
But, he alleged that Modi has brought worst days to the countrymen.
Sharma said that recently the price of petrol and diesel had been hiked.
"Now the service tax has hiked to 14 per cent from 12.36 per cent. Rail travel, using mobile phone among others things have become dearer with the hike in service tax," the Congress leader said.
He said the hike in service tax has affected the urban population across India.
The hike in service tax announced in the Budget comes into effect from today.
