A Congress worker was killed at Raina in Burdwan district today after the Assembly polls, with the opposition alleging he was killed by the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Superintendent of Police Gourab Sharma said Khandekar Ali died at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital.
The body was taken back to the hospital for post-mortemafter the hospital lodged a complaint with the Burdwan police
station that Ali's neighbours took away the body for burial without mandatory autopsy at the hospital morgue, the SP said.
A section of neighbours alleged Ali (57) was severely beaten up by his brother Khandekar Kazi at Pulshur village in Raina police station area this morning following an argument and died on being taken to the hospital.
Congress and CPI(M) alleged Ali paid the price for taking
part in campaigning for the local alliance candidate at the hands of Trinamool Congress.
However, TMC said the murder was not political and he was
killed due to family dispute.
