The victim, identified as Lokesh Kumar (27), suffered the gunshot injury near his torso. His condition is said to be out of danger.
"Kumar was posted at Nand Nagri police station. He was on patrolling duty at night. When he reached near Gagan Cinema on his motorcycle, he saw a tea shop and stopped by. As he was putting his loaded service revolver in the holster, its trigger was accidentally pulled and the bullet hit him," said senior police official said.
Lokesh has joined Delhi police services in 2006 and is currently posted at Nand Nagri police station.
