for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a tempo owner, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said today.
Sub-inspector Toukif Yusuf Sayyed (29), attached to the Dahanu police station here, had demanded Rs 3,500 from Baburao Tukaram Patil to allow his tempo to transport goods, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Jadhav of Thane ACB said.
Later, Patil filed a complaint against the police officer to ACB.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB sleuths arrested Sayyed at the Ashagad police chowky in Dahanu last evening.
Offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused, the ACB official added.
