According to the police, the incident took place last night when a team of Excise Department, also comprising constable Vinod and Sukhvinder, was following some alleged liquor smugglers in a car.
"Trailing the alleged liquor smugglers, they reached the forest area of Ghitorni in south Delhi where five men ambushed them with sticks and stones. Sukhvinder managed to inform the police after the attackers fled from the scene," said a police official.
A case was registered and efforts launched to nab the attackers. Police arrested one Pavan in connection with the case while four of his accomplices are still at large, police said.
