Copper spurts on sustained demand

Select copper prices surged at the non-ferrous metal market here today on good stockist buying amid sustained demand from industrial users.
Elsewhere, brass and aluminium also gained on better offtake from consumer industries.
Meanwhile, nickel, tin and copper sheet cutting dropped on selling following subdued demand from alloy industries.
The industrial metals was trading steady at the LME, hurt by worries of a cash crunch in top metals consumer China that could curb near-term metals demand.
Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar climbed by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 505 and Rs 533 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 500 and Rs 528.
Copper scrap heavy moved-up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 495 from Rs 493.
Brass utensils scrap, brass sheet cutting, aluminium utensils scrap and lead inched-up a rupee per kg each to Rs 345, Rs 355, Rs 124 and Rs 129, respectively.
However, tin and nickel dipped by Rs 10 per kg each to Rs 1,015 and Rs 1,580 from Rs 1,025 and Rs 1,590.
Copper sheet cutting declined by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 475 from Rs 482 and copper armature softened by a Re per kg to Rs 482.
