Corruption a challenge for any govt: Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that ensuring transparency and dealing with corruption has always been a challenge for any government.

"Ensuring transparency and dealing with corruption has always been a challenge for any government. Minimum government and maximum governance is our motto to minimise the role of middlemen. For this, the government is making all efforts to ensure availability of maximum government facilities online," Yadav said in reply to a question.

"We are providing pensions directly in bank accounts of the beneficiaries to remove the role of middlemen," he said.

Yadav was addressing the media on the occasion of unveiling the state's development agenda for 2015-16.

There are 165 items in the agenda of which 95 are carried forward from the last year while rest are new that would be rolled out this year. The agenda will be taken care of the in state budget to be presented later this month, he said.

The maximum thrust in the agenda is on infrastructure development like energy, roads besides human resource development, health, social security and agriculture, the Chief Minister said.

"Our endeavour is to complete all projects in a time bound manner and to ensure this sufficient amount will be earmarked in departmental budgets," he said.
