Many women have come forward with such allegations against Cosby and many journalists have owned up to not investigating the matter in their piece on the comedian, reported the Entertainment Weekly.
The New York Times' David Carr owned up to not addressing the allegations in Q&A with Cosby for an in-flight magazine in 2011.
Carr then called out to other journalists and Whitaker for turning a blind eye on such stories, saying "Any book of the size and scope of Mr Whitaker's should have gone there".
"David you are right. I was wrong to not deal with the sexual assault charges against Cosby and pursue them more aggressively," he wrote in response to Carr on Twitter.
"I am following new developments and will address them at the appropriate time. If true the stories are shocking and horrible," Whitaker said.
Cosby, 77, has been facing a lot of criticism with several of his shows getting cancelled in the face of allegations.
