The accused, identified as Sangreh Amin Nemchand and his wife Sushila, were arrested last night, Sardhana police said.
The incident came to light on Friday when a complaint was lodged by hospital administration that newborn daughter of Deepak and Sakshi, residents of Chankbandi, was kidnapped by an unidentified woman on the same day.
Yesterday, police received a tip-off that the child could have been abducted by Sushila and Nemchand, residents of Bhatwada. Acting on the information, police brought in the couple for questioning, and the duo later confessed to the crime.
On Thursday, the couple received information that a baby girl was born the day before in Mata hospital in Kripaon. Sushila immediately rushed to the hospital and stole the child from her parents on the pretext of feeding her.
The infant has been reunited with her parents, police said.
