Additional District and Sessions Judge Kaushalesh Kumar Singh awarded the sentence to Bipin Kumar Mahto for murdering his neighbour in 2008 following a land dispute.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on Mahto.
As per the FIR, the police had named four persons as accused in the case but the court acquitted three of them for want of evidence.
Mahto had in 2008 shot dead one Anil Kumar near an irrigation channel under Rajauli police station of the district when the deceased was going to his Amawa Bazar village on his bike, the FIR said.
