CPI, the second largest partner in ruling LDF in Kerala, today asked the Centre not to cut rice quta for the state when it implements the Food Secuity Act, party State Secretary Kannam Rajendran said here.
Process of implementing the Act was progressing and the draft list of new ration card holders have been released, Rajendran told reporters after a two-day meeting of party state council.
The previous UDF government had not taken any initiative in implementing the Act, passed by the Parliament in 2013, against the "Centre's move to cut rice quota.
Steps like this would only help to destroy the public distribution system in the state, he added.
He said the party has decided to organise large scale campaign against communalism and to preserve secularism.
