Alleging corruption in the conduct of the ongoing 35th National Games in Kerala, CPI(M) today pulled out all its members from various committees of the event.
Those who are resigning their membership from the committees include former Sports Minister M Vijayakumar, an ex-officio member in the National Games Secretariat.
A statement issued by the party state secretariat said the party MLAs, who are members in various committees, would also resign.
The decision was taken to ensure that the party nominees would not come under the shadow of suspicion in the backdrop of allegations of corruption that had come up in connection with organising of the event, the statement said.
In sharp contrast, the national games held in 1987, when the state was under the LDF rule led by the late E K Nayanar, was conducted in an unblemished manner, it said.
