CPI(M) today warned the Central government against any amendment in Labour laws as they were an outcome of struggle and not from any favour.
"The government will face protests in the streets if it goes ahead with its intention to amend labour laws, which are an outcome of a long struggle by the labour force and not by any favour by the corporate sectors," party's Politburo member Brinda Karat said here.
"The government thinks it can bulldoze labour laws as it has majority in Lok Sabha, but the labour force will respond to it with protests," she at a press conference.
Karat was reacting to Minister of State for Labour and Employment Vishnu Deo Sai yesterday informing the Rajya Sabha that amendment to a host of Labour laws were under active consideration of the government.
"We also apprehend an end to MGNREGA after its budget presentation... Forest rights are also under threat on the pretext of speeding up clearances for projects," Karat claimed.
