"The law and order machinery has done excellent job in the State. The crime rate has been reduced by almost 34 per cent while detection has soared by 17 per cent. The efforts of government to maintain law and order has finally bore results," Parsekar said while addressing the 54th Goa Liberation Day state-level function here.
Parsekar also expressed concern over the increase in the number of (road) accidents in the state.
The Chief Minister also announced the plans to set up Common Staff Selection Commission (CSSC) to recruit C and D category employees in state government departments.
"Setting up of CSSC will help facilitate to fill up vacancies of C and D category in various government departments at a time rather than publishing advertisement in the newspapers to fill up two or three posts in the aforesaid category in any department of the government," Parsekar said.
"There are instances that to fill up of two vacant posts, the departments receives thousands of applications as a result these candidates who aspires to get a government job unnecessarily waste their valuable time, besides CSSC will help to maintain transparency in the selection process," he added.

He said in next five years 50,000 jobs will be created by setting up environment friendly projects with investments worth Rs 25,000 crore.
He further said that the government has given approval for new agricultural college one each at Pernem, Porvorim and Quepem.
The Chief Minister also touched upon some pending issues which requires redressal such as evacuee property at Mayem, regularization of illegal structures.
"The foundation stone for new bridge across Zuari river will be laid in next 15 days besides construction of bridges at Talpona and Galgibag in Canacona will also be taken up," he added.
He also presented awards to those who have contributed and rendered services in different fields.
