CRPF jawan hurt as Naxals ambush polling party in Gadchiroli

A CRPF jawan was injured in firing by Naxals who ambushed a polling party triggering a landmine blast at Mahskapalli in Chamorshi tehsil in Gadchiroli district today, police said.
"The naxlites triggered a landmine blast and opened indiscriminate firing on a polling party which was returning from the polling station after winding up polling which ended at 3 PM," Gadchiroli police said in a release issued tonight.
The CRPF jawans posted at the polling centre promptly returned the fire, it said, adding that the condition of the injured constable is stable and he is airlifted to Nagpur for treatment.
Single-phase polling was held in Maharashtra today for all 288 seats.
