Linkages spanning over 2,000 years between different countries have been essential for the survival of culture and it cannot be imposed on others, experts said today.

These experts, including eminent historians and academicians, participated in a panel discussion on "Strengthening Socio-Cultural Ties" during the 10th edition of Delhi Dialogue here.

"Culture can never be imposed on others. There are three essential things which have helped in survival of culture over the years. These include linkages spanning over 2,000 years," Sabuj Koli Sen, Vice Chancellor Viswa Bharti University, said.

Rajesh Purohit, Director, Indian Museum, Kolkata, said, "Reviving literature and epics is very essential to establish relations with our neighbouring countries."
