The budget earmarked Rs 1,755 crore for plan and non-plan of Rs 745 crore for plan and Rs 745 crore for non-plan expenditure.
During 2015-16, the plan and non-plan expenditure stood at Rs 1417 crore and Rs 714 crore respectively.
The Budget has made a provision of Rs 680 crore (plan and non-plan) for Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which has 3,686 centrally protected monuments, including 21 World Heritage Monuments, comprising pre-historic stone-age sites, temples, mosques, churches and forts.
About Rs 402 crore has been allocated to Cultural Institutions, while around Rs 409 crore for museums and Rs 244 crore for libraries and archives.
In 2016-17, the government has allocated Rs 100 crore each for celebrating birth centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
